WHO:
- The African-American Baptist Mission Collaboration - A first-time ever alliance of five of the largest African-American Baptist organizations in the country, representing 40,000 church congregations and more than 10 million church-goers; the Collaboration includes the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America, and the following four organizations:
- Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley, executive secretary-treasurer of Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention and coordinator for the African-American Baptist Mission Collaboration
- Dr. T. DeWitt Smith, Jr., president of the Progressive National Baptist Convention
- Dr. Stephen John Thurston, president of the National Baptist Convention of America (and Senior Pastor of New Covenant Baptist Church)
- Dr. Julius R. Scruggs, president of the National Baptist Convention, USA
WHY:
To help rebuild and reconstruct Haiti in the aftermath of the disastrous earthquake that demolished it in January, leaving millions of Haitians homeless and in dire need of life-saving, life-sustaining health and day-to-day services.
