Rev. Barbara Lemon is a native of New York who firmly believes with God all things are possible. She was called by God and licensed to preach the
gospel in 1977 and ordained on May 10, 1981. She has served as Minister of Christian Education, Assistant to the Pastor and Pastor of Hope Missionary Baptist Church for 10 years.
As the church grew and developed under her administration, a new edifice was erected. Rev. Lemon has the distinction of being the first African American, as well as, the first female
to ever serve as Chaplain for the Suffolk County Police Department in Long Island New York. Rev. Lemon was honored during National Women History Month by the town of Islip for outstanding achievement in the field of religion. She also received the Prestigious Community Service Award in recognition of distinguished and devoted service to the NAACP and community. She is also a life member of the NAACP.
God has blessed her life once again by uniting her with the Shiloh Baptist Church family in Yorktown, Virginia. During her four-year pastorship, the church has grown spiritually, numerically and financially. New ministries have been developed to equip the Saints of God for more effective ministry.
