Gregory L. Spurlock, son of the late Diane E. Spurlock, is a native of Petersburg, Virginia. He received his educational foundation in the Petersburg Public Schools, where he was a noteworthy battalion commander in ROTC in high school. He graduated in 1986 from Petersburg High School and began studying Public Administration at Virginia State University the following fall.
Pastor Spurlock accepted the call into the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach God's Holy Word in January 1995 under the pastoral direction of Dr. A. L. Gee at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Petersburg, Virginia. Two years later in January 1997, Pastor Spurlock was called to serve as pastor of the Lebanon Baptist Church, Surry, Virginia. In June of that year, he was ordained into the gospel ministry, under the pastorate of Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia.
Pastor Spurlock continued his studies at Richmond Virginia Seminary, earning a bachelor of Arts in religion, May 1998. He earned a Master of Divinity in May 2006,also at Richmond Virginia Seminary. Pastor Spurlock received a second Master of Divinity in May 2009 from Virginia University of Lynchburg (VUL) and he is presently enrolled in the doctoral program at VUL as a doctoral learner.
Pastor Spurlock is married to the former Lottie Cassandra Mickens who is a native of Petersburg and an educator in Chesterfield County School System. He is the father of three children: a daughter, Ivana Danielle and two sons , Brandon Jaron Tucker and Gregory Jr.
